We just got back from a nice little family vacation to Playa del Carmen (near Cancun, MX). We went with our friends Kate, Brian and their baby Bridger. It was lovely, I just wish it was colder here in Utah when we left, since we basically left 60 degree weather for 70 degree weather. :)
Elliot loved the "hair plane." The kids did great on our (direct!) flight there. Thank heavens for movies on the iPad.
Bumped his nose and needed a bandaid, of course. |
Enjoying a large lemonade our first night there. |
We stayed in a condo 5 min from the beach and 2 min from the main promenade. The kids were psyched for the beach, which is good, since that is just about all we did that week.

We took a ferry over to Cozumel. I have to say, every time we have stayed in Cancun our favorite part has been Cozumel, and this trip was no different. We rented a little car and explored the island.
Our condo had a small unheated pool, so we stopped at a larger pool at "Paradise Beach" on Cozumel, which the kids loved.
We went to the east side of the island where the waves are too big to play in, except for this great spot called "Chen Rio", where the water was blocked off enough to leave a shallow pool of crystal clear water with fish swimming around and waterfalls over the reef.
We did one other day trip to Tulum - some of the Mayan ruins on the water.
Elliot and the Coati |
We also saw lots of iguanas - Elliot was a little surprised by this one. |
Unfortunately our last day was a bit chilly, but the kids still braved the water.
